Chief Zugan is a third generation Chagrin Falls firefighter, following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. After being appointed to the Chagrin Falls Fire Department in 1987, he rose through the ranks serving as a Lieutenant, and an Assistant Chief, before being appointed Chagrin Falls Village Fire Chief on January 14th, 2008. He is currently serving as the 19th Fire Chief in the departments 112 year history.
Chief Zugan also serves as the Chief of the Chagrin Falls Suburban Volunteer Fireman’s Association, which provides Fire and EMS service by contract to the villages of Moreland Hills, Hunting Valley, Bentleyville, South Russell, and Chagrin Falls Township. He is also a fulltime firefighter with the City of Shaker Heights, currently serving as a Battalion Chief and the departments training officer.
Along with numerous State of Ohio Certifications, Local, State and International affiliations, Chief Zugan holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Fire Safety Engineering from the University of Cincinnati.
