The Charter establishes the position of the Director of Law.  The Director of Law is the chief legal officer of the Municipality and is appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by a majority vote of the members of Council. 

The Director of Law serves the Mayor, the Council, the administrative departments and the officers, boards and commissions of the Municipality as legal counsel in connection with Municipal affairs; and represents the Village in all proceedings in court or before any administrative board; and performs such other duties, consistent with the office, as may be required by the Charter, by ordinance of the Council, or as directed by the Mayor.
