VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS PARKS COMMISSION

The meeting convened in Council Chambers in Village Hall at 8:35 A.M.

RIVERSIDE PARK
Park improvements are being advertised for bid.
Steve Miller has secured funds from the Jaycees’ alumni foundation for three free summer Saturday movie nights in the park; this includes set up and equipment (sound system, screen, projector) to be rented from Open Air Cinemas. The commission suggested setting up the screen next to the Chagrin Hardware wall, facing south, on the following dates:
Fridays – July 30, August 6, August 13 or Fridays – July 23, August 6, August 20
Questions the commission raised concerned:
• Power needs, extension cords
• Too much sunlight, need for shutting off power to ornamental street lights
• Cost for police security, clean up, lavatory facilities in Township Hall
• Traffic congestion
The commission would make a recommendation to Facilities and Services that the commission would sponsor these events in conjunction with the Jaycees.
BEAUTIFICATION
The budgeting of funds for purchasing annuals for Streetscapes beds was again discussed. Ben Himes said the Village Council has reinstated funding for the downtown plantings and 82 hanging baskets that are on the downtown poles on the irrigation system. The Village will realize the savings of not only the cost of the additional 44 baskets but also the overtime cost of watering on weekends.
