VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
ARTS COMMISSION
February 11, 2008

Members present: Jean Hood, Scott Lax, Don Edelman, Dwight Milko

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

FUNDING REQUESTS

There was discussion and comments were heard from the audience.

A motion was placed on the floor, and seconded, that those seeking donations of money from Village Council will use a two-page form. The applicant will be asked to include how the funding will impact positively on the economics and retail businesses in the Village. The Arts Commission will decide which requests will be presented to Council. The motion carried unanimously.

The Chagrin Foundation for Arts and Culture is planning to have their request ready for the next Arts Commission meeting scheduled for February 25, 2008. They are asking for $20,000 to help fund administrative costs.

NEW BUSINESS

Andrew Weaver, a Junior at the Chagrin Falls High School, asked for Council’s support in organizing a film festival, in conjunction with the school, that gives high school students a way to showcase their work because there are high school students who are interested in film making as a career. There was discussion, no action was taken.
