VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
CHARTER REVIEW COMMISSION
June 6, 2006

Members present: Champlin, Hubbard, Bodwell, Schmidt, Schach
Also present: Mayor Brick, Towns, Bruner, Edwards

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Lydia Champlin.

Mr. Towns said his issue continues to be the length of term. He submitted the County’s list of terms for the 57 communities in the County. Fifty-three mayors have 4-year terms (92%) and forty Councils have 4-years terms (70%). Because of the high cost involved in running for candidacy it becomes difficult for some people. It was mentioned that this was on the ballot in 2001 and it was defeated. This was discussed in length and it was suggested that if they are going to make a change they should change the Mayor’s term to four years and leave Council at two years.

The Commission reviewed the articles to be revised as outlined by Mrs. Champlin. It was mentioned that under the section for Council it refers to “him” and that should be addressed.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 13, 2006.
