The meeting was called to order at 7:39 p.m. by Chairman Steven Patton.

WHITESBURG PARK SHELTER HOUSE

Mr. Himes explained that when the Village first acquired this property some research was done as to wether the school would use it or if anybody would use it for a public purpose. Noone had any use for it so it has remained there. Mr. Bruner had an agreement with the previous owner to use it and has asked the Village either to make some arrangement where he could either lease it or purchase the property. His property currently does not have a garage so he would like to be able to either use the shelter house or build a garage on his property. The shelter house is a problem. It needs to either have someone take care of it or the Village needs to demolish it or renovate it so that it is not a safety hazard.

Mr. Bruner presented his case to the Committee and there was lengthy discussion. Mr. Bruner specifically mentioned that this is surplus property and not needed for Village purposes. Mr. Patton said it is not surplus property, it is a park! He said he has certain reservations about selling off park land to adjacent property owners.

Moved by Patton, seconded by Mr. Watterson that we deny the request to sell the property. We have information here but I don’t see any specific request. He is talking about a 100 foot section by 30', maybe something in the corner, maybe the entire 1.45 acres. Without having more information I am not comfortable further pursuing the matter as things stand tonight. The motion carried unanimously.
