The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by Chairman Janis Evans.

TRANSPORTATION FOR LIVABLE COMMUNITIES INITIATIVE PLANNING GRANT

Mr. Himes said last year, in September, the Mayor filed the application for this grant with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA). The grant application stated that the funds would be used to study and evaluate transportation and pedestrian linkages associated with the Village of Chagrin Falls’ proposed mixed use traditional town center district. He said NOACA has awarded a $68,000 Transportation for Livable Communities Initiative Planning Grant to the Village. The total cost of the project is $85,000. South Russell Village will contribute $4,000, South Russell Trail Foundation $2,500, Moreland Hills $2,500, Orange Village $2,000, and the Metro Parks will contribute $2,000. Chagrin Falls’ contribution will be $4,000.

Mr. Himes said the Mayor’s Ad-hoc trails committee worked with Behnke Associates, Inc. in writing the application and have also recommended that we use Behnke for the actual work. Comments were heard and questions were answered.

Moved by Mr. Subel, seconded by Mrs. Lutz that we recommend this to Council. The motion carried unanimously.

NORTH STREET IMPROVEMENTS/RESURFACING

Mr. Himes said the Village received $380,000 in Federal appropriations for improvements. Mr. Lannon explained the various options to the Committee.

Comments were heard and questions were answered. Mrs. Evans asked Mr. Lannon to pursue the new asphalt road, the base repairs, and the asphalt overlay, along with cost options.

MISCELLANEOUS

Mrs. Evans asked if parking spaces could be put in in front of Riverside Park where the bus stop used to be. Mr. Himes said that was suggested when the streetscape was done and at that time the Parks Commission or the Streetscape Design Committee didn’t want to obstruct the entrance way into Riverside Park.

The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
