VILLAGE OF CHAGRIN FALLS
UTILITIES COMMITTEE
January 25, 2010
Members present: Patton, Williams, Evans
Also present: Himes, Bloom, Lutz, Milko, Subel, Lannon
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. by Chairman Steven Patton.
ELECTRIC SUPPLIER
Mr. Himes said the wastewater treatment plant is the Village’s biggest consumer of electricity; a cost of about $12,000 to $13,000 per month. The other large account is a combination of the village hall, police station, and fire department. Last November when they began working on this they received a quote from FirstEnergy at 5.1 cents per kilowatt and a quote from Gexa at 5.4 cents per kilowatt. This is a sixteen-month agreement and it is estimated that the Village will save approximately $2,300 per month or $37,800 over the sixteen-month period on the WWTP account and approximately $150 per month or $2,500 over the sixteen-month period on the village hall, police station, and fire department account if they go with FirstEnergy.
Moved by Mr. Patton, seconded by Mrs. Evans that we recommend to Council the passage of the ordinance on the agenda tonight that authorizes and ratifies the Mayor entering into this customer supply agreement and fixed price pricing attachment with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
