The meeting was convened in Council Chambers at 8:32 AM.

RIVERSIDE PARK
• Chagrin River Day, Saturday, September 25, 2010
About two hundred people participated in this event and the Chamber of Commerce felt it was as a success; they hope to sponsor another such day next fall.
• Safe Routes to School, Wednesday, October 6 – 1:00 -7:00 PM – approved
o The CF Intermediate School students will walk or ride bicycles to Riverside Park, arriving at about 3:30 PM for various healthy activities including drawings for prizes, corn hole, fresh snacks, demonstrations of Kuk Sul Do, a Mountain Road Cycles bike station, and other movement related activities with sponsors such as Chagrin Yoga and Snap Fitness. Tents will be placed near the Main Street entrance where a microphone will be used. Students will later proceed to the CF Branch Library where additional activities and snacks will be proved by Brenna Freisner, Children’s librarian. Volunteers will make sure everything is cleaned up at the conclusion, somewhere around 5:30 PM. Kathryn Garvey asked Ben Himes to take care of getting the huge banner to the CF Fire Dept. for them to hang.
• Playground area
o The swings (two tots and two straps) and the green “Moving Tunnels” have been installed; the 18 bolt covers for the tunnels have been shipped to Lew Tomsic who will install them soon. The rubber mats have been placed under the mulch below the strap swings, but because the mulch is constantly swept away during play, the Service Dept. will have to rake it back into place periodically.
o For safety reasons, the Natureworks sign has been moved to the “V” corner at the back of the playground near the riverbank.
o The planting of the King Crimson maple trees along the brick walkway east of the playground as well as the replanting of the new oak near the bench in the swing area will be done by Davey Tree about the middle of October. The Jaycees will donate the funds for the purchase of the King Crimsons, which still need to be ordered.
• Entrance to Riverside Park
John Brockway is working on two leaks in the water line under the sidewalk in front of the park entrance. He has determined that the water line will terminate at the pole near the big sycamore. He will contact Frank Kitko about bids to replace sidewalk that has been disturbed as well as other cracked sidewalk areas along the east side of Main Street.
• Middle of Park
o Drinking fountain near the old skating shelter – Since a duplicate replacement will cost between $3,000 and $4,000, it is most likely that neither the Jaycees nor the Village will afford it. Any contact with the Jaycees should be made through Paul Chess. Ben will look into the cost of a drinking fountain similar to the concrete aggregate one in Triangle Park.
o The Dogwood Valley Garden Club memorial tree has been replaced.
o The lonely, dying crab in the middle of the park has been removed.
o Open Air Cinema – Steve Miller asked about approaching Council for about $200 to support next year’s movie events.
Triangle Park
• Looks great!
• CF Village wastebaskets have been overstuffed with Sunday Farmers’ Market event refuse. John Brockway will contact YourHomeTown about the need for sellers to provide their own wastebasket containers.
Bell Street Park
• Looks great!
Note: Steve Miller and his family will be moving to South Russell in November so he will have to resign he commission at that time.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 AM.
NEXT MEETING:
