PARKS COMMISSION

The meeting was convened in Council Chambers at 8:35 AM.

PARKS COMMISSIONERS

At the last Village Council meeting, Mayor Brick announced that two new Parks Commissioners are being sought.

2010 ACCOMPLISHMENTS and 2011 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The Commission reviewed these two documents and eliminated the last item listed under Stairway to the Falls which had to do with property owners maintaining riverbank areas. Anne will bring the finalized documents to the December meeting.

MAINTENANCE OF PROPERTIES BORDERING THE RIVER

At the next Council meeting, Janna will make a request that Mayor Brick address the ordinances related to property maintenance and obtain Council’s support to enforce these ordinances.

ONGOING IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

The Commission discussed the need to communicate with CT Construction and Joyce Bond about another grant request of Natureworks for rebuilding the steps from the library and the brick walk along the river in Riverside Park, as well as the stairway to the falls and viewing platform. It was thought that because these structures border the river and safe structures are necessary for the public access, this might make such a grant request more convincing. Another possibility discussed was to put these items, which could conceivably cost $250,000, on a ballot for voter approval.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 AM.
